10 Minute Tidy Tip 37: Log-Ins and Passwords

by shannon on April 30, 2012

How many log-in IDs and passwords do you have? How do you keep track of all of them? Did you know it’s important to vary your passwords for different Web sites? Well, this can lead to a lot of confusion and frustration. What I have done for myself and my clients is to create a paper and/or electronic file that contains all of your passwords.

Rather than have lots of sticky notes with them randomly written down, if you type up a list of Web sites and their passwords, you will have them all in one place. Once the information is in your computer, you can then easily keep the list of log-in IDs and passwords alphabetical and current. Label this file something other than “passwords.” Get creative. How about your favorite pet or nickname? Save this file under a label only you will recognize. Take 10 minutes now to create a simple solution that will save you so much time later.
