10 Minute Tidy Office Tip 90: Productivity Apps for iPhone

by shannon on September 30, 2013

There are too many apps to list that enable your smartphone to function as an extension of your office. The three apps that I am going to recommend are ones that I use that I have found to support me when I am out and about traveling between clients. These apps are also free which I think is an important feature of basic apps to start with.

The first is Dropbox. What the Apple website says about Dropbox is that it lets you bring all your photos, docs, and videos anywhere. After you install Dropbox on your computer, any file you save to your Dropbox will automatically save to all your computers, your iPhone and iPad, and even the Dropbox website! This is really advantageous for when you have large files that may take up too much memory space if you store them on your computer and then need to access them on your phone while you are “out in the field.”

The second iPhone app I use regularly is Evernote. This is a great replacement to the perpetual sticky notes or lists I make about new ideas that people share with me. Just grab the information and then Evernote can search it to help you find it fast. This is great for typing text notes, taking photos, and copying a screen shot. It really is easy to have Evernote search all the information you have stored. I love it!

And finally, for those of us who get a lot of calls and sometimes don’t find the time to return the call on the same day there is Google Voice. It transcribes voice-mail to e-mail and text messages so you can easily scroll through and read the content rather than listening to several voice-mails from the same person. This makes it easier to remember what details they were talking about in each message. Super helpful, saves time, and increases productivity!
