10 Minute Tidy Office Tip 105: Document Office Procedures

by shannon on June 9, 2014

Creating a procedures manual will help you do repetitive as well as rarely performed tasks efficiently and consistently. It will also allow others to perform these tasks correctly in the event someone is out of the office, or when there is employee turnover.

The best way to document a task is while you are performing it. The next time you have to log into a website, record your login and password in your master list. When you order supplies, take a few extra minutes to open your procedures file and write down what you are doing every step of the way.

Eventually you will have a collection of procedures you can keep in a binder to use for training purposes or refer to when it’s been a while since you did that task and need to refresh your memory. Believe me, this will save you time.
